Early Access: beaTunes 6 EA 3
This third early access version of beaTunes 6 focuses on three things:
- Faster analysis
- Updated UI (incomplete)
- Bugfixes
The focus for this EA release is clearlyon analysis speed. Most analysis tasks should be substantially faster. Also, the queue logic was rewritten from scratch, using a simplified design. In the UI department, the first thing you'll notice is the updated icon (Tahoe-style) and floating scrollbars and rounded corners within the UI. The latter isn't quite ready yet - there are still some glitches I am aware of. While EA2 didnt' even start in dark mode, EA3 will start, but rounded corners will be rendered in the wrong colors. I am aware of this and it will be fixed.
Thanks to user feedback, I was able to fix a couple of bugs, for example problems with %-sign in file paths or names.
This Early Access release focuses on macOS. A windows version is not available, but there will be windows versions in the future.
When you start beaTunes 6, and have used beaTunes 5 before, beaTunes will create a backup of your existing database folder and then go on to convert your databases to the new SQLite format. This process cannot be reversed, i.e. you will not be able to migrate data back to beaTunes 5. You can however, delete the new database folder and rename the copy to its former name. In any case, you might want to create a backup before starting beaTunes 6.
Alright, here's the obligatory warning: Before downloading and installing this, please make sure you understand what Early Access means:
- Absolutely no warranty for whatever
- Features may or may not work, appear, and disappear
- It may not be possible to migrate data to future or previous versions (even though I make a reasonable effort)
- You will not be able to migrate data created by this version back to beaTunes 5
- This version will cease to function 4 week after its release. A new version or a final product will be made available when this version becomes dysfunctional.
- You cannot buy this version

Very odd bug. It has picked up all my podcasts from the Apple podcasts app!!! And is trying to beat identify it!
What is even odder is this is looking at a smart playlist I have in my Apple Music listing songs without any BPM which is 1266 items in Apple Music, but the same playlist showing in Beatunes is showing 3996 songs, of which LOADS are podcasts, and when I look at the file details in Beatunes is shows them as Podcasts too. And there are no podcasts in my Apple Music. So somehow, it's trawling my Podcasts folder, or Apple Music holds the Podcasts in the same folder? (Don't think so)
